Mountain Humane, located in world-famous Sun Valley, Idaho, is on a mission to change lives by connecting pets and people. The Janitor/Custodian performs routine cleaning for the Mountain Humane facilities, grounds and vehicles. This position works closely with the Facilities Manager and other staff throughout the organization.

Classification: Part-Time

Reports to: Facilities Manager

Collaborates with: All staff as needed

Location: Hailey, Idaho


High school diploma or equivalent preferred

For safety purposes, must be able to read and speak some English.

  • Cleans assigned indoor facilities (i.e. offices, corridors, multipurpose room, walls, windows, breakrooms, kitchen, etc.)
  • Cleans assigned outdoor facilities (i.e. parking areas, sidewalks, pavers, storage, refuse areas, windows, door, siding, lawn, etc.)
  • Assist in proper disposal of indoor and outdoor garbage and recycling
  • Distributes and replenishes supplies (i.e. soap dispensers, towels, toilet paper dispensers, etc.)
  • Cleans and vacuums the organization’s vehicles
  • Assist in pre and post event preparation and cleaning
  • Informs Facilities Manager of any needed inventory items or replacements
  • Makes minor repairs (i.e. changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, sinks, toilets, etc.)
  • Inspects facilities to ensure safe, attractive and sanitary conditions
  • Identifies and immediately reports to Facilities Manager any damage, emergency situations, safety issues, vandalism, equipment breakage, etc.
  • May expect to be contacted during off-duty hours and requested to report to work, primarily in the event of an emergency


  • Must maintain a neat and well-groomed personal appearance
  • Indoors and outdoors, including in shelter environment with dogs, cats, pocket pets
  • Frequent interactions with children who may or may not be well-behaved, occasional contact with the public in an emotionally charged environment
  • Weekend hours will be required
  • Occasional event evening hours may be necessary
  • Work day includes walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, lifting (occasionally up to 50 lbs)


Hours: Part-time position, between 15-29 hours/week.  Flexible schedule with 1 or 2 weekend days.  Occasional evenings necessary for events.

Wages: $14-$16 hourly, depending on experience, proficiency in job tasks and ability to work cooperatively while fostering the mission of the organization.
