Mountain Humane (in Hailey, Idaho) is on a mission to enrich the quality of life in our community by connecting animals and people. We do this through innovative programs that inspire and have impact beyond southern Idaho. The first “no-kill” shelter in the state of Idaho (in 1999), annually we help more than 2,500 animals and touch the lives of more than 5,000 people through our programs. JOB SUMMARY:

The Marketing Coordinator position reports to the Marketing Manager and assists in spreading the message of the mission both creatively and effectively. The Marketing Coordinator must be organized and detail oriented in order to ensure that assigned projects are completed in a by the deadline. As part of the Marketing Department, the goal of this position is to create materials that promote the programs and mission of the organization, as well as share Shelter happenings and successes in a way that engages donors and the community. As an integral part of the development team, this position also provides support before and during fundraising and donor-related events and cocktail parties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or comparable marketing experience in an office environment, preferably in the non-profit sector.

 

Prefer experience with the Adobe Creative Suites specifically with design and photo editing.

 

Prefer social media experience developing and managing daily content over various platforms.

 

Prefer photography/video experience specifically with animals.

 

Have a demonstrated commitment to animals and the community, and an understanding of non-profit organizations.

 

Strong administrative and computer skills, be highly organized, motivated and remain flexible under pressure.

 

Strong communication skills, including the ability to write about the organization persuasively with a minimum of spelling or grammar errors.

 

Ability to manage diverse duties, set realistic deadlines, and independently manage task timelines.

 

Must be willing to work outside of regular hours for events and other marketing opportunities.

 

Must work well with persons of varied sexual preference, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with individuals who are differently-abled.

 

Should exhibit a positive attitude, common sense, flexibility, and teamwork with ability to exercise independent judgment.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Marketing Team Duties

  • Coordinate with Marketing Manager to manage all public facing media to ensure brand consistency, messaging priorities, and mission focus
  • Work with Marketing Manager on coordinating projects per annual communications/marketing plan
  • Work with Marketing Manager to determine the structure, timeline, and due dates of projects and ensure they fit with the annual plan
  • Help us stay in contact with our supporters by working with other staff to develop topics for weekly email newsletters
  • Manage social media channels and help grow the audience and awareness
  • Define proactive and comprehensive media & outreach plans for events, community education, Shelter promotions, etc., and manage timelines and execution of the plans, working with other staff as needed
  • Ensure all events are posted on community & media calendars, online and print
  • Work with Marketing Manager to make daily updates to the Shelter’s website ensuring content is current, and accurate
  • Keep track of animal movements and update the website and social media daily to ensure accurate information is shared
  • Take and manage photos for Mountain Humane promotion and communication
  • Help increase outreach to students and children through creative new media approaches, working with other staff to develop strategic partnerships with schools and other groups to get mission-related information to youth and engage them in the organization
  • Assist with daily/weekly marketing tasks (flyers, digital slides, signage, etc.)

 

General Development Team Duties

  • Assist with summer benefit duties as needed throughout the year. Help onsite at the event for donor check-in and check-out
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends in development and fundraising, regularly read industry newsletters and blogs, and attend trainings/workshops as necessary
  • Answer phones, along with other staff, in the Admin Office
  • Assist with planning development and fundraising events to help promote Mountain Humane


GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Maintain a neat and well-groomed personal appearance
  • Comply with all facility safety protocols
  • Assist in maintaining overall facility cleaning standards
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Indoors and outdoors, including in shelter environment with dogs, cats, pocket pets
  • May include interactions with children who may or may not be well-behaved, occasional contact with the public in an emotionally charged environment
  • Animal handling encouraged with provided behavior and handling training
  • May require driving of company vehicles. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Drivers information will be submitted to the carrier
    • Regular use driving of company vehicles; employee’s must be at least the age of 18
    • Occasional use driving of company vehicles; employees under the age of 18 must be preapproved by the carrier
  • Work day includes walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, lifting (occasionally up to 50 lbs), answering telephones, and using a computer, work with a variety of cleaning agents, and work in an environment with daily changes in climate

 

HOURS, SALARY & BENEFITS:

Hours: Full-time position, 40 hours per week, flexible schedule with some nights & weekend days necessary for programs. Final schedule to be determined with Supervisor based on organizational needs.

 

Salary: $16 - $20/hr depending on experience, proficiency/efficiency in job tasks, and ability to work cooperatively while fostering the mission of the organization
